Konotacja roboty uczynionej w pałacu zamku krakowskiego
i na wale pod zamkiem in anno 1741
1. Poprawił się dach w całym pałacu dachówką,
gdziekolwiek co złego było.
2. Okienka pod samym dachem, gdzie potrzeba
było poprawiły się.
3. Okna w Poselskiej izbie ku ojcom Bernar-
dynom, w których kamienie powypadały by-
ły, te się reperowały i ankrami żelaznymi
wiązały.
4. Wysklepiła się była sala wielka ku Kurzej
Stopie i izba poboczna, w tych dało się skle-
pienie nowe, dlatego że sufity spadły były.
5. Sufit dało się nowy w gabinecie ku Kurzej
Stopie.
6. Posadzka w tych dwóch pokojach de nowo
układana.
7. Wszystek apartament górny, gdziekolwiek ry-
sy były w murach i tynk opadły, te mularską
robotą poprawione i sporządzone.
8. Pokoje wszystkie na drugim piętrze wybie-
lone.
9. Też pokoje wyfarbowane na półtora łokcia od
podłogi na kształt futrowania.
10. Mur, zacząwszy od rogu bramy Pobocznej aż
do skarpy pod gabinetem Kurzej Stopy, któ-
rego jest łokci sto sześćdziesiąt w długości,
wysokości gdzieniegdzie po siedem łokci,
indziej po osiem łokci i po dziewięć, ponie-
waż fundamenty nierówne były, grubości zaś
w fundamencie półtrzecia łokcia a wyjście
z fundamentu łokci dwa i ćwierć, który to
mur jest wystawiony kamieniem kwadrato-
wym ciosanym, nad kwadratem jest kordon
kamienny wciąż idący, nad kordonem jest
łokci trzy muru z samej cegły robionego
i dachówką nakrytego. W tym murze jest
brama z kamienia ciosanego do wchodzenia
na wał, dobre zawarcie mająca z forsztów dę-
bowych żelazem okutych.
THE ACCOUNTS OF THE REPAIRS CARRIED OUT IN THE CRACOW CASTLE IN 1705
AND 1741
S u m m a r y
The first half of the 18th century remains the least
known period in the history of the Wawel royal castle.
Especially acute is the lack of sources relating to the
rapairs carried out after the great fire in 1702. Hence
the discovery of the accounts of repairs for the years
1705 and 1741 essentially supplements the hitherto known
archival references.
I. The Wawel Division of the State Archive in Cra-
cow contains a manuscript bearing the signature IT 51,
entitled Regestr wydatku pieniędzy z prowentów wielko-
rządów [...] in anno domini 1705 (A Register of the Ex-
penditure of Money from the Governor's Revenue [...]
in the Year 1705). The accounts listed therein cover the
expenses from August to the end of November 1705 for
shingling the roof of the royal castle. The cost of the
work amounted to 3,587 florins 19 groszes.
The work was supervised by a master craftsman
not mentioned in the Register by name. This was most
probably Piotr Beber, architect and builder, who dealt
above all with domes and tower roofs, having restored,
among others, the towers of the Wallachian Orthodox
Church in Lvov, of the Cracow Town Hall, and of the
Jasna Góra monastery. After the 1711 fire in the parish
church of Żywiec he constructed a new roof and the
provisional top of the tower. In connection with these
operations the chronicler of Żywiec calls him the builder
of the Cracow castle.
II. Among the materials that once belonged to Sta-
nisław Tomkowicz and are now the property of the
National Museum in Cracow, kept in the Czartoryski
Library, the folder signed 620a contains Rachunek repa-
racji zamku krakowskiego in anno 1741 z kwitem na nim
zapisanym od F. J. Torianiego (Account of the Repairs
of the Cracow Castle in the Year 1741 with a Receipt
Written on It from F. J. Toriani). These accounts supple-
ment the source materials for the period 1737—1740,
published by Adam Chmiel.
The repairs in 1741 were supervised by Francesco
Toriani, a royal architect. In that year the following
work was carried out in the castle: the roof was re-
paired, all the rooms on the second floor were painted,.
and new vaults were provided in some first-floor rooms
in the north-eastern corner. Besides, the defensive wali
was reconstructed between the Poboczna city gate and
the Hen's Foot. All in all, the sum of 17,062 florins 28
groszes was spent on all the repair and building oper-
ations.
