A Snow Scene (D VIII.). time of exposure he gave to the plate was two hours.
The representation of snow is one of
the most difficult subjects that can be
set the photographer to satisfactorily
accomplish. We have been highly
pleased with the many excellent photo-
graphs that have been sent us in this
competition, and regret only that, in
reproducing them, some of the very
fine gradations of tone, which constitute
much of the charm of the originals,
have been lost in the "process" blocks.
