LASGOW,—The artistic sea-
son in Glasgow has this year
been, if possible, more active
than usual. The Institute
exhibition was stronger than it has been
for many years past, and its variety
evinced the catholic taste of the council.
In addition to much good work already
seen in London, important pictures were
shown by Sir J. Guthrie, P.R.S.A, Sir
George Reid, and Messrs. Coventry, A.
K. Brown, A. B. Docharty, Crawhall,
George Henry, John Henderson, R.
W. Allan, A. Roche, and R. Brough;
while a graceful and delicate portrait-
