The present state of French decorative

art was briefly reviewed in The Studio a
couple of years ago by Mons. Gabriel
Mourey, and the same able writer has dis-
cussed the subject at much greater length

edition was published at the close of last

century the old styles—Louis Quince,
Louis Seize, Empire, and so forth—held
