designs and those of other artists. From the
time he left the Imperial Arts and Crafts
School he has devoted himself to the design-
ing of mosaics, and has studied the materials
and practised their manipulation. He has ex-
perimented extensively, and has combined
glass mosaics with ceramic, marble mosaics
with ceramic enamel and beaten copper. His
Venetian mosaics (two of which are illustrated
on page 50) have met with considerable
success. His most recent works include the
mosaics for the Hotel Weisler at Graz, and at
the Austrian Museum, Vienna; and stained
