script, decorative printed title-pages, &c., and
their work is well known to those interested
in the artistic production of books. They
have executed many beautiful and important
works, of which one of the most recent is the
Bible presented by His Majesty King Edward
to Bruton Church, Virginia, U.S.A., to com-
memorate the tercentenary of the landing of
English Colonists at Jamestown, Virginia.

Mr. Smith is a well-known designer of metal-
work, wood-work and interior and exterior
decoration, and executes painted and relief
panels. His recent important commissions
include fireplaces at Windsor Castle and
Buckingham Palace for H.M. Office of Works,
and at “ Ingestre ” for the Earl of Shrewsbury,
