137. LUBBEN (Agrainci).

Lubben is an inhabited ruin a little southwest of the centre of the Ledja. By a
strange coincidence this ruin has exchanged names with the neighbouring ruin now
called Djr^n. Some time after Waddington’s visit, presumably at the time of the Druse
settlement here, ancient Agraina, called by the Arabs Djrfen, became Lubbfen, and the
Arabs’ Lubben became Djr£n. There can be no doubt of this, for there are inscriptions 1
in situ here which give the ancient name, as Agrccina, and which were copied by
