The abbrevation C. for Caesar occurs also in nos. VIII and XVII, and in Germer-
Durand, no. 9. The ligature in lines 3 and 6 is also found in Germer-Durand, no. 9.

Mile xvi from Bosra.

Three inscribed shafts, with bases attached, found on the edge of the road almost
due south of the group at the end of the fifteenth mile.

VI. Shaft let into a square base. Found lying at the extreme south of the
group. Height of shaft 1.98 m. Circumference at the middle 1.33 m. Square of the
base 75 cm.
a. 214 a.d. Length of 1. 3, 19^ cm. Height of letters in 1. 1, 9 cm.; in the
other lines, 5-7 cm. Height of the Latin numeral at the base io’/scm.; of the Greek
numeral, 2Ox/3 cm.
