627. Stele. Found in the same cemetery. The stone is standing with base
embedded in the ground. Height 44 cm.; width 25 cm. The face is fairly well
finished. Height of letters, which are very indistinct, 6-8 cm.
(Α)βί^ηος Ζικου(?) ετ(ών) ίθ'.
Αβιβηος is for Αβιβαιος or Αβιβιος, which are derivatives of the common name Αβιβος
(Hafrtb\ either the diminutive Hcibibai, or the gentilicium Hablbiy. Ζικοζ, if this be the
correct reading, does not seem to occur elsewhere.
628. Stele. Found in the same cemetery. The stele is used as an end-stone
of a tomb and is upside down. Height above the ground about 51 cm.; width 34 cm.
The face is well finished. The rows of letters are separated by incised lines. Height
of letters 6x/s-9 cm.
[Θαρσφ Taw- Άζβολίου, ε’τ(ών)· κγ'.
The name Ταννος occurs also in Wad. 2494. The Arabic equivalent is Thann.
Άζβόλιος, correctly spelled Άσβόλιος, is found in Amm. Marc, xxvni 1, 8 and on a ring,
published by Le Blant, Inscr. Christ. Gall. 1 24.
629. Stele. Found in the same cemetery. Height 30—34 cm.; width 25 cm.
The face is fairly well finished. Height of letters cm.
ΜοσεχαΘη Γ.
Μοσεχαθη, Arabic Musaikat, is the same as Μοσεχα? Musaika, found in no. 80.

630. Stele. Found in the same cemetery. Height 50 cm.; width 25 cm. The
face is fairly well finished. Height of letters 5—8 cm.
Μαναλας Αβ&σαρου ετών εκ'.
i. e. Man-allah, (son) of zAbdishara.

We have found no other example of Μαναλας in Greek inscriptions. "Abdishara
is for 'Abdi-Dushara. The Greek form of the name is also found in M. S.M. p. 272,
no. 93. The form Αβίαίουσαρης has been read by M. Clermont-Ganneau in an inscription
of Ewing’s, found at Umm il-Osidj ; see E. A. O. 11 (1897), p. 33 and R.A.O. iv
(1901), p. 168. The name means 'servant of Dusares’.
