The other two inscriptions from this same house, mentioned above, are as follows.
A.A.E.S. No. 222 is on the lintel of a gateway in the east wall of the courtyard.
Its text is almost identical with that of the present inscription: + Ei ©εος ύπερ ύρ,ών, τις
ο καθ' ύρ.ύυ·, δόξα αυτύ πάντοτε. A.A.E.S. No. 223 is on a lintel of the house itself,
facing southward on the courtyard. Its text is:
+ Κύριε, βοχθι τώ οίκω τούτω, καί τους ΰκοΰσιν ευ αυτω. Αρ:όυ. 4-
Lord, help this house, and those that dwell in it! Amen. A
Inscriptions 1067-1072, inclusive, are from the Djebel Wastaneh.
1067. KWARO. Tomb, 227(F) a.d. The inscription is incised on the living rock,
over the entrance to a rock-hewn tomb in the hillside west of the village. The first
eight lines are within a dove-tail plate, measuring 40 cm. in breadth and 34 in height,
exclusive of the dove-tails. Lines 9-12 are below the plate: they are 44, 54, 79 and
40 cm. in length, respectively, and together 16 cm. in height. The letters are from
2 to 5 cm. high. Copied by Dr. Littmann.

I believe that in carving the date the stone-cutter skipped Ξ
date to the G of ρευός (which is doubtless for ρ.·ηυός, as in A.A.E., Ξ φ
and then returned to the date again at the end of the line. The n Ξ
are somewhat uncertain. Ζαραυας is probably the Semitic Zazrdn. Ξ m
the Syriac Ze ora: compare Ζεωρο: in A.A.E.S. in, 153. Ζεβιυας m:
Zebina: compare A.A.E.S. in, 49. The form άφιερωτε is doubtless
= co
