Die Ausbildung dauert vier Jahre, ein-
geschlossen ein Jahr Grundlehre, und schließt
mit dem Diplom der Hochschule für Gestal-
tung ab.
Für die praktischen Arbeiten stehen Werk-
stätten für Holz, Metall, Gips und Foto zur
Verfügung.
Die Hochschule für Gestaltung verbindet
Lehre und Forschung in einem Institut für
Produktform und in einem Institut für
industrialisiertes Bauen. Ein Institut für
Kommunikation befindet sich im Aufbau.
Zur Hochschule gehören soziale Einrich-
tungen und Wohnbauten für Dozenten und
Studierende.
Die Hochschule für Gestaltung ist eine
private Institution. Die Geschwister-Scholl-
Stiftung, wirtschaftliche und juristische
Trägerin der Hochschule, wurde 1950 von
Inge Aicher-Scholl gegründet, im Gedenken
an ihre 1943 durch das Naziregime hin-
gerichteten Geschwister Hans und Sophie.
Die Bauten wurden von Max Bill entworfen.
Mit dem Bau wurde im September 1953
begonnen. Am 2. Oktober 1955 konnte die
Hochschule offiziell eröffnet werden. Bis 1956
war Max Bill der Rektor der Hochschule für
Gestaltung. Sie wird heute von einem aus
drei Mitgliedern bestehenden Rektorats-
kollegium geleitet.

The training lasts four years, inclusive of one
year’s foundation course, and concludes
with the diploma of the Hochschule für
Gestaltung.
Wood, metal, plaster, and photography
workshops are available for practical work.
The school also combines teaching and
research in an institute for industrial design
and in an institute for industrialized building.
An institute for communication is under
construction.
The school contains living quarters and
social facilities for faculty and students.
The Hochschule für Gestaltung is a private
institution. The Geschwister-Scholl Founda-
tion, which has financial and legal respon-
sibility for the school, was founded in 1950
by Inge Aicher-Scholl in memory of her
brother Hans and sister Sophie, who were
executed in 1943 by the Nazi regime.
The buildings were designed by Max Bill;
construction began in September 1953,
and the school was officially opened on
2 October 1955. Until 1956 Max Bill was the
director of the Hochschule für Gestaltung;
since then the school has been directed by
a Faculty Board.

Les etudes durent quatre ans — dont une
annee de «cours fondamental» — et se
terminent par un travail de diplöme, decerne
par la Hochschule für Gestaltung.
La Hochschule für Gestaltung etablit un
lien entre l’enseignement et la recherche,
gräce aux Instituts d’«Industrial Design» et
d’lndustrialisation du Bätiment. Par ailleurs,
la fondation d’un Institut de Communication
est actuellement projetee.
Des ateiiers pour le travail du bois, du metal,
du plätre, et un atelier de photographie, sont
ä disposition des etudiants.
La Hochschule für Gestaltung comprend en
outre un centre social, ainsi que des locaux
d’habitation ä l’usage des professeurs
et des etudiants.
