king’s party in Chefhire and North Wales, and feized upon the city of
Cheder. Lambert was lent againd them with a confiderable force, by the
parliament. They imprudently marched out of Chefter, gave him battle,
and were defeated. Sir George Booth was taken prifoner, and fent to the
Tower ; and fir Thomas retired to Chirk cadle, where being followed by
Lambert, he made a ihew of relidance for a few days; but was at length
compelled to furrender, on fuch terms as the conqueror was pleafed to
dictate, and Lambert demolifhed the greater part of the cadle. Sir Tho-
mas, however, rebuilt it in a few years afterwards.
After the refloration he was much in favor with the king, and was
created a baronet July 4, 1660.
He married a daughter of fir —— Napier of Luton, by whom he had
two fons, Thomas, who furvived him, and John,* who was a gentleman
commoner of Brazen-nofe college, Oxford, and who died there January 1,
1670: and three daughters, Anne, married to the third lord Herbert of
Cherbury, who died without blue 1678 5 Charlotte, married Hrft to Ed-
ward Rich, earl of Warwick, and after his death, which happened in
1701, to Jofeph Addifon, Efcp and Chridina, who in 1654 was married
to Roger Grofvenor, elded: fon of the fecond baronet of that family ; he
was killed in a duel in 1661, at the age of 33.
Sir Thomas died about the year 1673, and was buried in the church
at Chirk.
