2954. UNCERTAIN OBJECT, something like an axe-head, flat, ending in a swan’s head, on
the neck of which is a small ring. Length 4J in. Sardinia, 1856. Corroded.

2955. KNIFE, with iron blade complete, and hinge and socketed handle, like a modern clasp-
knife ; the handle is in the form of a greyhound devouring a hare, the fore-part of which is
visible in his mouth ; the animal issues
out of a calyx. Length 5-f in. ; of the
handle, 2^ in. Comarmond Coll.,

the form of a crouching lion devouring
the head of an ox which he holds in
his fore-paws ; the part into which the
blade was inserted is in the form of a
calyx. Ht. 5 in. 1894. Patina.

form of a dog running, with a boar’s head in its mouth. Length 3! in. Towneley Coll.
2958. HANDLE OF KNIFE, in the form of a wolf or dog crouching down. Length 2f in.

hinder end ; the feet rest on a sort of curved stand with a support in the middle, on which is a

2961. HANDLE OF KNIFE, in the form of a horse’s head looking round to its r., with mouth

2963. HANDLE OF KNIFE, in the form of a sheep’s foot; at the other end, a socket.

2964. HANDLE OF KNIFE (?) : at one end a calyx ending below in a volute ; at the other, a
panther seizing a deer by an antler with its mouth ; the deer crouches on its fore-legs, and the
panther grasps its r. shoulder with r. fore-paw. Length 2f in. Towneley Coll.
2965. HANDLE OF KNIFE, with figure of Eros (?) in relief, wearing Phrygian cap and
chlamys ; he has a pcditm in r. hand and a bunch of grapes in 1. At the back is a slit into
which the iron blade fitted. Length 2| in. Rathcr rude work ; patina.
