21. Silk.—Silk Ends; no Borders.

The examples of this description of garment are included in the following table and all
come from Burmah. The patterns and character of the manufacture are peculiar and differ
from most of the productions of India proper. The silk used appears to be of fair quality
and to be well dyed.

piece being cut in two and sewn together
at sides to form garment.

end, woven in plain stripes of colours same

White, figured check towards principal end hut
plain at opposite one. Border (2| inches) of
red and yellow silks with “ Kutar ” pattern in
the inner edge. In principal end (23 inches)
cross stripes of crimson figured silk with
yellow silk and gold thread; terminating with
one gold laced stripe 21 inches wide, and one
21-inch stripe of crimson figured silk and
gold. At opposite end a ll-ir.ch cross stripe
of crimson silk and a double line of same
colour nearer end.
