which contained many other particulars. So
far, the case rests upon the contradictory
statements of Lutz and Serjeant Sinclair;
i but, in consequence of Lutz’s account, an
' investigation has taken place, and authentic
documents have been obtained, which esta-
blish its accuracy beyond all doubt

“ I do hereby certify that Anthony Lutz,
private soldier in the regiment of Minorca,
or Stuart, did, on the 21 st of March, 1801,
during the action between the English and
French armies, commanded by Sir R. Aber-
crombie, and the French General in chief
Menou, on the above day, within three miles
of Alexandria, take from the enemy a stan-
dard, which bore several marks of honour-
able distinction, sucluas the passage of the
Pavia aud Tagliamento, when under Bona-

parte in Italy, and in the centre of which is
a bugle horn within a wreath of laurel. — I

brought the standard to the head-quarters of
