With regard to these internal caverns, we will refer to one not far from Jebel Sunnin, in

WADY SHIB'A, FROM HEBBARIYEH.
The village of Shib'a may be seen on the summit of the second peak ; it is the highest inhabited place in Mount Hermon (Jebel esh Sheikh).

great pit in the earth, with vast unexplored chambers leading under the mountain, and even its
