Diary, and he seems to have been highiy regarded by Charies II.
It is perfectiy clear that graining was iargely used, as in Juiy 1691.

In many cases this painting work has been removed under the mistaken impression that it
was not original. At this time, July 1691, Jas. Grove, carpenter, makes a frame for the
painters 1$ x 12, possibly a ceiling painting.
Work done in the Story and half story of the Queen's Apartment, as for 194 sqrs.
