Remarks.—This is the older Tika on Kaccayana Bheda. The Maha Tika was composed about 62
years after this work.

Remarks.—It is stated to have been composed by the incumbent of Patiraja Piriwena, under the
auspices of a chieftain named Patiraja in the south of Ceylon. Its authorship has been generally attributed
to Vedeha Thera, author of Rasavahini, Samantakutavannana, and Padyamadhu, on the ground that it is
stated in the first-mentioned work that its author Vedeha Thera composed “a grammar of the Sinhalese
language.” The late Hon. James Alwis, who published this work withan English translation in 1852,
believes, for reasons stated by him, that the work must have been composed between A.D. 1266 and 1410
(wide Alwis’s Sidatsangara Introduction, p. clxxxi.) Two editions of this work have since been published in
Colombo, one by Pandit Tudawe, and the other by Mr. John Pereira.
