Auction catalogues

Catalogues were published for the more than 460 auctions held by Dr. Ernst Hauswedell & Co. and Hauswedell & Nolte between 1930 and 2015. These catalogues provided information about the objects on offer and their estimated prices in advance. Information about the previous owners of an object was also printed in the form of an encrypted number.

The catalogues' scientific cataloguing and evaluation of works, which had been more elaborate since 1965, was repeatedly praised. If necessary, experts were consulted for the processing. For special auctions, some catalogues were illustrated to match the auction's theme.

In addition to the information from the auction catalogues, further transaction data is available through a research request at ZADIK. This includes personal data from the delivery lists (from 1951) and auction protocols (from 1940) of the auctions held.
