Library of Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nuremberg
The Germanisches Nationalmuseum, founded in 1852, is more than just its collections. The archive and library have been an integral part of the museum of cultural history since its inception. The growth of their holdings was remarkable in the 19th century. In 1870, the collection comprised 60,000 volumes, and by 1902, it had far surpassed the 100,000 mark, with 140,000 volumes and 1,000 manuscripts.
The access registers bear eloquent witness to this.
