Heidelberg University

The University of Heidelberg has numerous scientific collections. They play an important role in documenting the history of science and humanties and in representing the university to the outside world. The university collections enrich teaching, research and exhibitions with their diverse holdings. Some of the inventory books of these collections have already been digitised and are now also available here.

The Historical Collections of the Heidelberg University Library include valuable manuscripts, charters and bequests, as well as incunabula (prints up to 1500), old prints, the Graphic Collection and other special collections. Handwritten inventory lists and acquisition books have been preserved for a large part of these holdings, mostly from the 19th and 20th centuries, when they were added to the library and recorded for the first time. The Heidelberg University Archives hold an extensive collection of inventory books for the collections of Heidelberg University, which will also be digitised in stages.
