of progressing damages on cultural and
art objects. With this System it is possi-
ble to prove the progress of surface da-
maging over a long period.
Over a period of one complete year, an
automatically operating 35 mm camera
photographs the surface at the required
preset intervals (once a day, for exam-
ple). After digitising the transparencies

and adding further Information such
as data on ambient atmosphere, a di-
gital video with a total length of appro-
ximately 3 minutes is produced which
shows the changing Constitution of the
fine detail of a wallpainting over the
period of one year. At the end, the
electronically-processed time-lapse
photography becomes an additional
Instrument for timely decisions should
further preservation work become
necessary.
