chitectural rendering of sculptural volume. The sym-
bolic function of form increases with a simultaneous
overlapping and diffusion of both architectural and
sculptural principles.
As to spatio-compositional prinoiples, contemporary
memorial Works >are characterized by a broad palette of
variel spatio-material solutions combining a loose
dynamized spatial concept with an ingénions, expres-
sive solid form designed to induce rather an atmos-
phère of quiet piety and méditation than of sublimity

and pathos. A trend towards the opposite pole of spatial
Organization, towards a closed, particularized space at-
traeting and beguiling the viewer, is indicated by me-
morials whose core is formée! by a spécifie inferior
space. However, the fundamental intention in all these
multifacious solutions is a comprehensive interpréta-
tion of the ideational content and a setting up of an
impressive, captivating space that permits the viewer
a deep experience of the ideas expressed.
