Remarquable déjà par son exécution soignée, cet objet l'est
davantage encore au point de vue de la forme, qui est a la fois
sévère, correcte et d'un très-beau caractère. Elle semble tracée
par un architecte. Les ornements sont sobres, d'une simplicité
de bon goût et de nature à accuser de préférence certaines
parties. Le plateau do l'aiguière est très-grand et décoré, sur
le marly, de l'ornement courant gravé, que nous montrons
flg. 1829, ornement d'un goût exquis et d'un caractère bien
oriental.

Already remarkable for its fine exécution, tins ewer is the
more so on the score of its form at once severe, correct and of a
very beautiful character. One would tliink it drawn by an
arebitect. Its ornaments are sober, with a tasteful simplicity,
and well chosen to show off particularly certain portions of
the work. The basin of the ewer is very large and embellished
along its rim with the engraved running ornament shown in
fig. 1829, and which has an exquisite style and a genuine Eastcrn
character.
