ANTIQUITÉ. — ÉPOQUE ROMAINE. DIVINITÉ CIVIQUE. — BUSTE EN BRONZE
GRANDEUR DE L'ORIGINAL. DE LA DÉESSE CIBÈLE.
A LA BIBLIOTHÈQUE NATIONALE A PARIS,
La déesse est vêtue d'une tunique : elle a la tête ceinte d'une
couronne murale de ville flanquée de six tours. Le buste est
posé sur une patère entre deux cornes d'abondance. Le pié-
destal est antique. On peut considérer ce bronze, trouvé en
France on 1750 près d'Abbeville, comme un des plus remar-
quables de la collection de la Bibliothèque nationale. C'est un
cuvrage romain, que l'excellence du travail doit faire placer au
ilr siècle de l'empire. La conservation de ce buste ne laisse rien
à désirer.

The Goddess wears a tunicj her head is encircled with a mural,
crown ornamented with six towers.
The bust stands on a patera between two cornucopia;. 'J lie
pedestal is antique. This bronze found near Abbevillc, France,
1750, may be considered as one of the finest of the National
Library' collection. It is Iioman, and the excellency of its
workmanship is such that it is to be unquestionably attributed
to the first century of the Empire. Its state of préservation is
perfect.
