number of beautiful initial letters composed of interlaced or-
naments finely painted in gold and colours. Large fol. Leather.
Rome, Ulrich Han and Simon Nicolai Chardella, 1471. Frs. 450.—
Hain-Copinger 15563. Proctor 3353. British Museum cat. IV. p. 23. Rare and early
edition, the first book which these two printers issued together. A large border
is likewise painted in gold and colours. The blank margins of two leaves
slightly repaired. About a dozen leaves at the beginning rather stained,- ink-
stain on one leaf, otherwise very good copy with wide margins. The many
(harming initials are of an unusual quality.

books of which this is the first. Our book is the only one of this press that
the British Museum possesses.

(one of which blank). Fol. Original wooden boards, half covered
with leather. Venice, Jacobus Rubeus Gallicus, 1476. Frs. 300.—
Hain-Copinger 15806. Proctor 4245. Brunet V 1055. No copy in British Museum.
According to Census, two copies in America. A hole through one leaf (sign,
p 7) affects a couple of words. A few leaves slightly waterstained. A few
tiny wormholes. Wide margins.

hat surrounding confessor with penitent). Pretty woodcut initial
letter. 4 to. Red morocco inlaid with black morocco, richly gilt,
border, dentelles and leaves, in the centre arms (crowned bear),
back fully gilt,- fine 17th century binding. Burgos, Fadrique de
Basilea (Friedrich Biel), 1499. Frs. 2000.—
Haebler 28. Pellediet 874 (one copy in French public libraries). According to
Census, only one copy in America. Only very few copies known of this book.
The first leaves slightly wormed and repaired, otherwise in very good condition.
