been prevailed upon to permit the publi-
cation of a very entertaining fuite of pre-
cepts, originally compofed for the ufe of
his own fcholars, and, which, it is pre-
fumed, will meet with the approbation of
the public.

The Editor of this Mifcellany, defirous
of prefenting to the Public a work which
may be confidered as a juft and faithful
reprefentation of the ftate of the arts at
this period, requefts the affiftance of thofe
gentlemen who are willing to communi-
cate their obfervations upon this elegant
branch of fcience, and allures them of the
moft liberal attention.

Upon the whole, it is hoped the Public
will receive from the Artifts Repofitory,
both inftruclion and entertainment, unit-
ed in a compendious fyftem of agreeable
amufement: if, in its progrefs, profeffed
