Several Remarks on the Portrait
of Anna Potocka Nee Cetner

Angelika Kauffmann (1741-1807) painted a portrait
of Anna Potocka nee Cetner, this done between March
1791 and January 1792. The portrait was executed in
Rome during the trip to Italy Anna was on with her
husband Kajetan Potocki. The portrait is in the
collection of the Museum of King John Ill's Palace at
Wilanów (Wil. 1574). Some previously unobserved
connections between the portrait in question and one

ofthe drawings by Angelika Kauffmann in the Royal
Collection in London (RCIN 917989) have been
pointed out. Based on the conducted analysis, it has
been demonstrated that Angelika Kauffinan's drawing
from the London collection had been a sketch for the
Wilanów portrait of Anna Potocka nee Cetner.
Moreover, a correction of the fee due for the portrait
and ofthe manner it was paid in has been introduced.
