Eduard Lebiedzki worked for Emma de Seppi and was hosted by her at Hrastnik at least
once more,117 since Emma commissioned two mosaics depicting St Francis of Assisi and
St George for the Parish Church at Dol pri Hrastniku to commemorate her brothers.118
Lebiedzki made the sketch for the mosaic of St Francis of Assisi, and both mosaics were
produced in Antonio Suzzi's workshop in Trieste.119 Emma De Seppi also co-founded the
construction of the new church of St Jacob at Dol pri Hrastniku, a Neo-Renaissance buil-
ding raised by Gustav Tonnies's construction company from Ljubljana between 1908 and
1909 following the design by the architect Hans Pascher from Graz.120
Just as the Gossleth family were of key importance for the industrial development of
Hrastnik, Emma De Seppi left a significant mark on its architectural appearance. Further-
more, her buildings are equipped with high-quality paintings by Eduard Lebiedzki and
Constanze von Breuning, which are especially interesting from the iconographic point of
view, since the supraporta paintings represent a visual allegory of the extended Triestino-
Hrastnik Gossleth family.
117 The information presented that Lebiedzki is the author of wall paintings in Villa Gossleth in Trieste cannot be
verified. As stated in the villa's official description, it was supposedly decorated by the painter Mainella, the Viennese
painter Breuning and four Triestino painters: Fragiacomo, Scomparini, Lonza, and Taddio (http://biblioteche.comu-
ne.trieste.it/Record.htm?idlist=l&record=19221555124910497379). Furthermore, Lebiedzki's name cannot be found
in any Italian dictionary of painters from Trieste (MARTIELLI, Dizionario; Salvatore SIBILIA, Pittori e scultori di
Trieste, Trieste 1993.
118 Franz Gossleth died in 1907 in Celje (STEGENŚEK, "Petindvajset let," p. 104.)

120 Ibid., pp. 98-105.
