with apoptygma, and earrings, holding upright in 1. a long burning torch, and
extending in r. a phiale. The hair is looped up with a broad fillet. On 1.,

(b) A Maenad in a long chiton and himation, and radiated fillet, standing to
r. holding upright in 1. a thyrsos ; from its stem an ivy branch springs to r. On
1. KAAE, KaXrj.

whiskers in a. Eye of simple profile type, with eyelash. The edge of the hair is indicated by
single strokes of black on the black. The figures stand on a double thin red line, which runs
all round.
(a) A youth in himation and fillet with vertical piece over forehead, leans
forward to r. against a staff, addressing, with extended r. arm, a girl in long
chiton and closely muffled in a himation which passes over the back of her head.
In the background beside her is a chair with cushion decorated with zigzags.

(b) A nude youth, with same gesture of arms, pursues to r. a girl exactly
resembling the one in a, who turns back to look at him. The same inscription
in the field.
