THREE-LEGGED JUG. .Ht. ?J in. From Yortan, as A i, etc. Handle, back leg,
and points of lip are broken away.

Pear-shaped body with narrow cut-away neck. In front of shoulder are
three knobs; behind each of the outside knobs and over the middle one
is incised a vertical strip of chevrons between single lines, and around base of
neck is a single incised line. Grey ware with remains of polish.

Shape as last : the lip is forked, and the neck is very thick, pierced with a
small hole. Incised decoration of a large roughly-drawn triple zig-zag covering
the body, and a fringe of short strokes hanging from a single line round base of
neck. Brilliant black ware. . .

Similar shape, but top of lip is curved. Around the middle of the body is
incised a double zig-zag, and below the base of neck a band of horizontal dashes
between single lines. Black ware with perished surface.

Similar shape, but with straight lip. One of the legs is too short.
On the shoulder is incised a narrow band of single zig-zag between
single lines, and at base of neck a fringe, as in A 27. Very smooth
light grey clay. (Fig. 7.) , Fig'7=A"9.

upper part of handle restored. The very small hole which pierces the neck is stopped with a
bronze pin.

Inverted pear-shaped body with sharp-edged shoulder, narrow tapered neck
with spread lip as-in A 14 but cut straight across the top ; flat loop handle. The
shoulder is covered with incised patterns : a zig-zag band between paifs of rows
of horizontal dashes edged with single lines. Polished dark grey ware.

Globular body with narrow cut-away neck ; the lip is flanged at its base and
has a pellet on each side, as A 23 ; twisted loop handle, three tapered legs.
Moulded decoration : on front and back of body is an oblong four-barred grill ;
the two grills are connected by relief lines joining the corners of each, as if they
were tied on the vase by strings. On each side of the body is a small
knob. Polished grey-black ware. The shape suggests, but does not imitate,
a bird.
