THREE-LEGGED JAR. Ht. 3} in. From Yortan, as A I, etc.
"Globular body, cylindrical neck with flat flanged lip, three
short tapered legs, two flat vertically-pierced lugs on widest part of
body, and between these on each side a knob. Above the lugs and
just below the lip, the neck is pierced on each side with a small
hole, as in A 42, for tying on a lid. Fine black clay with remains of
polish. (Fig. 14.)

THREE-LEGGED JAR. Ht. 3! in. From Yortan, as A 1, etc. One leg restored. Plate I1'
Similar shape, but lip not flanged, and with incised decoration. The spaces
between lugs and knobs are filled with a triple chevron and triple zig-zag
alternately. Rough grey ware.
FOUR-LEGGED JAR. Ht. 34 in. From Yortan, as A 1, etc. Lugs and lip are
chipped, and three legs restored.
Shape as A45, but with four legs. Each knob and lug is enclosed by two
incised double curves meeting at neck and base, and the lower half of each
enclosure is filled with rough vertical 'dashes. There is a single line around base
of neck. Polished grey-black ware.

Shape as A 45. Over each knob and lug is incised a band of dots between
single lines in the form of a pointed arch, and below base of neck is a band of
the same pattern. Polished grey clay.
FOUR-LEGGED JAR. Ht. 34 in. From Yortan, as A r, etc. One leg restored.
Shape as A 47. On the shoulder are three bands of irregularly incised
dashes ; the lowest band is enclosed between thin curved lines drawn from each
knob or lug to the next. Around base of neck is a single line. Polished black
ware.
FOUR-LEGGED JAR. Ht. 3 in. From Yortan, as.A 1, etc. One leg restored, one Plate U-
knob broken away. ,
Shape as last. In the line of knobs and lugs is a narrow incised band of
double zig-zag between single lines, and below base of neck a band of circles
between single lines. Polished grey ware.
THREE-LEGGED JAR. Ht. 3lin. Fiom Yortan, as A 1, etc. One leg is broken away. Plate l£
Shape as A 45, but without knobs. Incised decoration : a band of opposed
double zig-zag in the line of the lugs, and below base of neck a fringe of short
strokes hanging from a single line. Highly polished black ware, brown on
one side.
