PREHISTORIC AEGEAN POTTERY.

A 99-100. Fragments with painted decoration. Both fabric and patterns are the same

as those of the incised ware, A 91-A 94.

A 991-5. FRAGMENTS with zig-zag and triangular patterns. L. 2I in. to 6 in. From Kalamaria

(3, 5) and a mound near Langavuk (4}. Light brown and red ware, grey in fracture, hand-made,

with polished surface and painted patterns in dull purple-red paint: a heavy zig-zag (1), thin
zig-zag bands and broad plain bands (2-3), triangle in triple outline (4), and solid triangles (5).

A IOO1-8 FRAGMENTS similar to last, but with spiral coils. L. 45 in. to 2! in. From Aivatli (1),

Kalamaria (2, 4, 7), Mikra (5), Lembet (6). Decoration of pendent triangles with small spiral
coils springing from the points of junction at their bases. No. 1, aflat loop handle from a
bowl has six such coils radiating from a circular pit on its broad front ; 8 has parts of
large spirals. (Fig. 29.)

FROM THESSALY, PHOCIS AND BOEOTIA (A 101-A 257).

Most of the pottery from Dimini and Sesklo was presented by the Hellenic
Government in 1912, having been excavated by Chr. Tsountas in 190.1-3. The
rest and sherds from later excavations made by A. J. B. Wace and M. S.
Thompson on other sites in Thessaly were presented by the British School of
Archaeology at Athens in 1913.
