4. Christ Triumphator on the beasts (reconstruction by H. Lewakowa of the painting No 5)

Christianity was Titus FIavius Clemens, a representative of the local school. Profiting from the
achievements of Philo, Clemens linked the Gospel with Greek culture. The aim of Philo was to
take advantage of contemporary knowledge to foster a correct understanding of the Bibie. For
Clemens, philosophy is the most important field of knowledge, which aids interpretation of
the Bibie36. Logos revealed to each people the Wisdom, which originally was, true enough, the
same for all, but was presented in a manifold way.

The reve!ation of the same Zogos-Christ also comes to various cultural environments in a form
appropriate to the each of them.

The Christianity proclaimed in the Greek world had to deprive itself of its Semitic form and
to assume a Hellenistic one: Christianity had to speak the language of Plato and Homer.
