back of the head shows a massive part of the back pillar which constitutes an
integral part of the sculpture and reaches the top of the crown narrowing
gradually towards it. The sculpture shows great modelling skill, precision in
carving detail and its perfectly polished surface gives the stone velvet
smoothness. The bits of gold plating visible on the right cheek indicate that
the entire sculpture used to be gold plated (ill. 1-4).
The harmonious features and the benign, even bright expression on Osiris'
face shows it as an attempt at producing the god's ideał depiction. The artist
