Professor Michałowski at Mirmeki (Crimea) and later restored the most
beautiful find from that site, a terracotta statuette of goddess Kybele. Many
Museunds exhibits owe their present appearance to his skill and experience.
He did not forgot his ability to create models: he authored two models of the
wine-press discovered at Mirmeki, models of the theatre in Alexandria, Abu
Simbel temples, Early Christian Cathedral at Faras, and two large models of
complex of temples at Deir el-Bahari, one of which was madę as a gift to the
Egyptian Antiąuities Organization, the second is the property of the National
Museurn in Warsaw.

In 1985-2000 he was a member of the Polish-Egyptian Mission for
Restoration of the Tuthmose III tempie at Deir el-Bahari (under Jadwiga
Lipińska). His greatest restoration and repair works were those on the
ruined tempie elements: columns, their bases, pavements, parts of the walls
and red granite jambs of a huge doorway, together with sandstone stairs
leading to it. That work he carried out with close collaboration with architect
R. Czerner. Thanks to their work there, remains of the tempie no longer
suffer from the exposure to elements.

It should be mentioned here, that he was also active in trade union, in
difficult times helping people in need.

Stefan Miszczak, a ąuiet, self-effacing rnan, will be missed by his friends and
colleagues, and remembered for his achievements.
