Male figure (Hercules), with lion's skin covering his head and shoulders, like the pre-
ceding one; the fore paws tied over the chest. Garment falling to the knees, with belt. The
right arm, broken away at the shoulder, was raised, holding a club behind the head, to
which the fragment of the club is attached. The left arm hangs down, grasping a small
lion. Feet and lower part of the legs wanting.

576. Statuette, of calcareous stone. Height, 811 inches. Found in the temple (Golgoi).
Male figure (Hercules), wearing lion's skin, like the preceding; the forepaws tied on

the chest. Garment with belt. The left hand hangs down, holding the ends of two arrows,
broken off under the hand. The right arm is broken off at the shoulder. The hand,
attached to the body, below the belt, holds the ends of something which might be the hind
paws of the lion, or arrows. The legs, above the knees, are broken away.

577. Statuette, of calcareous stone. Height, 1 foot. Found in the temple (Golgoi).
Male figure, with right arm lifted and thrown back, and broken off above the elbow.

The left arm is broken off below the shoulder. Short tunic, cut away in front, and showing
portion of a belt, below which an undergarment is visible, partly covering the thighs. The
hair is rendered in short locks. Traces of red color on the belt, borders of the garment,
eyes, and lips. The legs are broken off above the knee. Sculptured in the round.

578. Statuette, of calcareous stone. Height, 1 ft. Cj\ inches. Found in the temple
(Golgoi).

Male figure (Hercules), with lion's skin covering head and shoulders, the fore
paws knotted on the chest. A chiton falls to the knees, and is fastened round the
waist by a belt, which, holds, also, close to the body, the lion's skin. Both arms
are wanting. A portion of the club, which had been held in the right hand, is
attached to the head behind. On the left hip, and clinging to the belt, a small
lion. The legs are stretched apart in relief, against an intervening stone surface. The
left foot is wanting. The nose, beard, and surface much damaged.
