4. Vase. Glass. Originally transparent ; now for most part incrusted with grey mate-
rial. Height 4j4 inches. Diameter (base) I3/& inches, (body) 2,'/$ inch, (mouth) i15/i6 inch.
Bottom flat; body ovoid extending into a conical neck which ends in a shoulder, and a
horizontal surface out of which a funnel-shaped mouth rises. The sides are decorated at bottom
and just above the greatest diameter with a double row of indented points. The main body shows
a band of intersecting circles with an indentation in the centre of each.
5. Vase. Inscribed. Glass. Blue with grey incrustation. Height 55/g inches. Diam-
eter (at shoulder) 3^6 inches, (mouth) 1 y2 inch.
Hexagonal. Pedestal-like base ; contracts to base of side, the junction being marked by a
raised band. The sides present six quadrilateral ornamental panels, one inscribed (see below) ; two
occupied by a design consisting of a spray of a fruit-bearing tree shown diagonally across the
space, with an amphora, tilted, in the opposite corner; three have a union of the lotus and
palmette, once with a large lotus pendant. A raised band and a fluted space similar to that next
to the base, give the greatest diameter which is marked by a square ridge. Six semi-circular
panels above are ornamented alternately with an upright cross and a round boss inside each ; a
palmette occupies each angular space between. The top is dome-shaped, and contracts to the
cylindrical neck with its flaring lips. The two handles are angular; start at lip and extend half-
way down the domed top. Parts of the bottom and of three sides are gone. The inscribed words
are these:
