Plate XCVI.

Jugs : with square body and one handle, usually corrugated. Shown at % of true size.
The collection contains twenty-three examples of this general style in various sizes. Found in
Greek tombs at Dali (Idalium).

i. Jug. Height 3%6 inches. Width (side) \l/& inch, (diagonal) \1/% inch.

Bottom flat, square at base and rounded above. High handle.

2. Jug. Height 3^3 inches. Width \i/A inch, square.

Similar to No. I, but with taller body, shorter neck and flat handle.

3. Jug. Height 2'A inches. Width 2 inches.

Squat body and long neck, with distinct mouth. Handle runs from below lip to curved
top of body.

4. Jug. Eight-sided. Height \7/& inches. Diameter 3% inches.
Flat bottom ; polygonal; straight sides ; regular handle and flat mouth.

5. Jug. Height ^/i inches. Width \s/2 inch, square.

Flat bottom; square sides and domed top. Small neck and mouth, with raised thumb-
piece.

6. Jug. Height 354 inches. Width \i/% inch, square.

Flat bottom, regular, square body, cylindrical neck, and mouth large and conical.

7. Jug. Height 5 inches. Width (side) 23^ inches, (diagonal) 3^ inches.

Large ; heavy glass, deep blue ; square body with domed top ; heavy corrugated handle ;
distinct mouth.

8. Jug. Height 3V16 inches. Width 1^2 inch.

Similar to No. 1, but taller in body and slimmer; handle rounded; extends from below
lip to curve of body.
