Plate XCVIII.

Vases and Bottles of various shapes. The collection contains above thirty examples of this
general type, some with rounded bottoms, others with distinct bases. Found in Greek tombs at
Dali (Idalium). Shown % of original size.

i. Vase. Height 39/ie inches. Diameter (body) 2^ inches, (mouth) iS/% inch.

Rounded bottom, conical body and flaring mouth.

2. Vase. Height 3J/2 inches. Diameter 3j/g inches.

Rounded bottom; raised band about neck; flaring lip, short. The collection contains
twenty-four examples of varying sizes.

3. Vase. Height 3"/i6 inches. Diameter 27/ig inches.
Similar to No. 1, but fuller in the body.

4. Vase. Height 4 inches. Diameter 23^ inches.
Distinct base ; round body and large flaring mouth.

5. Bottle or Vase. Height 434 inches. Diameter (body) 4^6 inches, (top) i9/i6 inch.
Distinct base ; squat body ; slender neck with raised band about same and comparatively

small mouth.

6. Bottle or Vase. Height 4^ inches. Diameter (body) 39/i6 inches, (top) i9/i6 inch.
Similar to foregoing, but with more distinct base, larger neck and more pronounced mouth.
