Alabaster Objects. From Amathus. Phoenician, except No. i.
i. Ladle or Spoon. Length 5^ inches. Diameter of bowl 2% inches.
Bowl originally was spherical, about one-third of sphere. The handle consists of a nude
female figure, lying flat, with arms extended below bowl and head raised above edge of same.
The wrists show bracelets; hair is knotted behind head. Figure is gone between knee and ankle,
and the face is blurred. The bowl shows a seven-petalled flower inside, and a radiating decora-
tion outside. Greek ?
2. Bowl. Height 2 inches. Diameter 4 inches.
Bottom slightly concave; flaring sides; convex top, with round aperture.
3. Bowl. Size at top: length 55/g inches, width 33/g inches; at bottom: length 3^ inches,
width i15/ic inch. Height \7/% inch.
Hollowed out; oval in general shape; overhanging rim and slightly protruding base.
Three pointed projections at each end, one with two perforations. Precise use uncertain.
4. Patera, with three feet. Height 1 l/i inch. Diameter 45/i6 inches.
Bottom rounded; inside hollowed out to correspond.
5. Bowl, with three feet. Height iyA to -iy2 inches. Diameter (top) 6% inches.
Bottom flat; sides slightly curved, convex; rim flat and overhanging.
6. Bowl, with four ears. Height 2 inches. Diameter (top) 3J/8 inches; (including handles)
3% inches.
Bottom flat; sides curved; interior rounding. Four ears or handles (two broken), one with
run-way on top of same.
7. Bowl, with four ears. Height 2 inches. Diameter (base) 2% inches, (top) 5 inches,
(including handles) S'/2 inches.
Bottom flat; body almost conical, rounded at top. Edge flat, with four square projections,
one of which has a run-way on top like a libation vase or bowl. Interior spherical.
