visible below. Part of the lower edge of the cylinder is broken away, showing a light grey stone
inside.

6. Cypriote Seal. Hematite. Length i inch. Diameter 7/i6 inch. From Curium.
Indistinct objects: two upright figures wearing long garments; hands raised head-high on

sides. Between is an antelope (?) with head bent backward. Opposed is a bull's head with
branching tree above. Small indistinct objects fill spaces.

7. Cypriote Seal. Grey serpentine. Length :!1/32 inch. Diameter l/% inch. From
Aghios Paraskeva.

Nearly obliterated. Apparently an erect figure facing a tree.

8. Cylinder Seal. Egyptian ? Black serpentine. Length 27/32 inch. Diameter 5/i6 inch.
From Amathus.

An erect human figure with a long garment and apron, pendant arms and large head-dress
or wig. On either side at base is a figure like the Egyptian hieroglyph for hon, "majesty" and
"servant." Above same on one side the sign is repeated reversed, and on other side is sun disk
with a crescent under. Opposed is a tall, slim tree. Apparently an adaptation of Egyptian mo-
tives. See Cesnola, Cyprus, page 387; Plate XXXI, 11.

9. Cylinder Seal. Black serpentine. Length iV32 inch. Diameter %6 inch. From Curium.
At left is a tree with outline indicated; leaves represented by dots. Adjacent is a double

panel, similarly constructed. Meaning uncertain. Supposed to date from 300 to 700 B.C. See
Cesnola, Cyprus, page 387; Plate XXXII, 16.

10. Cypriote Seal. Hematite. Length 15/ie inch. Diameter T/16 inch. From Curium.
Contains two groups: at right is a hawk?-headed figure, nude, with right foot advanced,

right arm replaced by a wing, left hand holds standard. Facing same are two erect figures wear-
ing conical caps; one of them holds a standard with both hands. His left foot is advanced; legs
resemble bull's legs. The hands of the third figure rest on abdomen; prominent thighs. The
second group is in three registers: above, a crouched lion, whose head is above that of a prostrate
bull; in middle, a guilloche ornament in five coils; below, a palmette or "sacred tree," flanked by
a recumbent ibex on either side, heads bent backward. Supposed to date from 1000 B.C.
