Date : originally 1505, altered to 1508.
Watermark : ‘ bull’s head ’ (Ha. 1).
On the subject, see note on No. 46. The banner here is marked simply with a large
cross, as commonly seen in representations of St. George, and not with the special
device of the order or confraternity protected by Maximilian.
Drawing: one cannot fail to be reminded of the mounted knight of 1498 in the
Albertina (L.461), but this drawing, if used, has not been followed closely. The
harness is much the same.
