71. WHEEL LOCK CARABINE. Stock in walnut, inlaid with fine scroll work and engraved with plaques
in staghorn and mother of pearl. Hunting and love scenes are depicted. Barrel octa-
gonal; lock engraved with game.

72. WHEEL LOCK RIFLED GUN. Stock in walnut, richly inlaid with steel filigree work and plaques
engraved with female figures. Engraved G. O. M. Octagonal barrel. The lock box and lock mounts
in chiselled bronze.

South Germany 1675. Length 105 cms. Plate 5. Mark:

73. WHEEL LOCK RIFLED GUN. Stock in white staghorn. On the left side an enamelled plaque with
the figure of Mars. The octagonal barrel is gilt all over, the lock is gilt, the trigger-guard gilt and incrusted
with turquoises.

Germany about 1650. Length 112 cms. Plates 1 and 12.

74. FLINT LOCK GUN. Stock in walnut carved with Regence ornaments. The barrel at the breech chis-

elled in relief with the figure of a warrior and rich Regence ornaments on gold ground. Lock-decorations
en suite. On the prolongation of the butt-cap the figure of a warrior very much like the one on the barrel,
also in gold but in higher relief. The trigger-guard, counterplate and other mounts are decorated en suite.
France about 1710. Length 143 cms. Plate 19.

75. FLINT LOCK GUN. Stock in walnut carved with baroque ornaments. The barrel of circular
section chiselled at the breech with baroque ornaments and mascaroons in relief. The lock chis-
elled and engraved and signed Haseluyn Utrecht. Mounts in engraved bronze.

Holland about 1740. Length 158 cms. Plate 14. Mark:

76. FLINT LOCK GUN, DOUBLE BARRELLED. Barrels turning on a pivot. Stock in walnut with
Regence ornaments. At the breech both barrels are chiselled in steel in high relief, showing a warrior
carrying a banner surrounded by scroll work. Several marks are stamped in gold on the barrels. The lock,
powder-pan and trigger-guard are covered with bronze plates, chiselled and engraved with
animals, cupids and ornaments. The lock is signed J. Thiermay.

Holland about 1730. Length 150 cms. Plate 15. Marks:

77. TSCHINKE. A light and very elegant weapon. Stock inlaid all over with fine scroll lines and plaques
in staghorn and mother of pearl representing game. The octagonal barrel is slender and chiselled in steel
with Renaissance ornaments on both ends and in the middle. The lock, chiselled to match the barrel
shows traces of gold on the background.

France about 1600. Length 111 cms. Plate 4.

78. WHEEL LOCK CARABINE. Stock in walnut, richly inlaid with steel filigree work and small engraved
plaques. Barrel octagonal with date 16VV; engraved H. R. The coat of arms of Saxony stamped
into it. Lock engraved in parts.

Germany. Length 93 cms. Plate 3 Mark:

79. HEAVY WHEEL LOCK GUN. Stock in walnut with incrustations and applications in staghorn. Barrel
hexagonal with baroque shell ornament on gold ground. The signature: Philipp Müller A. Varsovie,
inlaid in capital brass letters . The lock is chiselled with Rocaille ornaments on gold ground. The large
trigger-guard decorated en suite.

Poland about 1700. Length 120 cms. Plate 9.
