It is a copy of the painting by Horace Vernet
titled Death o/ Prince Joseph Poniatowski
from around 1817, perhaps after Louis
Philibert Debucourt's engraving. This compo-
sition and the other one, later by two years,
of Vernet's was repeated in painting and
graphic art several times. The place of
storing of the original is unknown.
