In the years 1960-1966 he studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts (diploma under Hanna
Rudzka-Cybisowa in 1966). He taught first in the State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Cra-
cow and from 1972 at the Cracovian Academy, where since 1993 he has been leading, as
a professor, the painting studio at the Faculty of Graphic Art. In 1990 he won a prize of the Volker
Heitland Foundation.
In the 1980s, in the convention of the "new figuration", he took up the motif of allegorical cross-
bars and barriers; in the 1990s his painting illustrated the joy of existence; he is most inclined to
introduce landscape subjects.

Szancenbach in 1980). In the 1980s he was connected with the trend of independent culture. He
is a professor of the Cracovian Academy.
He illustrates the material reality of the world, subject to disintegration and destruction, in the way
formally close to works by Francis Bacon. He is a painter and drawer.
