In the years 1947-1948 he studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts; next, at the Faculty of
Architecture of the Cracow Polytechnic (diploma in 1952). Initially, he occupied himself with
architecture. In 1955 he turned his interest towards painting and in 1958 he prepared his first
exhibition of paintings-reliefs. Apart from painting he practises drawing; he is also a photographer-
experimenter. As a painter he worked first in the informel convention; next, he turned to the
creation of a mysterious, gloomy, almost mystical atmosphere from the border zone between
reality and dream.
