Tadeusz BORUTA SK
Cracow 1957
In the years 1979-1983 he studied painting at the Cracow Academy in Stanislaw Rodzinski's and
Zbylut Grzywacz's ateliers (diploma in 1983) and in the period 1980-1984 philosophy at the
Papal Theological Academy in Cracow. In the 1980s he participated in the Movement of Inde-
pendent Culture, which co-organized, a. o., the exhibition "Towards a Person" in the Dominican
cloister in Cracow in 1985 and the "Paschal Mystery" in the Cracovian Archdiocesan Museum in
1986. He was awarded a prize at the 1st National Biennial of the Youth "Way and Truth" in 1985.
In the years 1992-1993 he realized a series of altar paintings in the former Benedictine convent
at Monte San Savino in Italy.
Ostentatiously referring to the tradition of academism, his oeuvre includes painting, drawing and
sculpture, which illustrate the dramatic nature of events originating from Christian iconography,
especially Christological; he is interested in showing a new existential symbolism. He often intro-
duces his own person into painted representations.
