The text is by Friedrich Hoelderlin, the greatest poet of
Swabia besides Schiller.

Signed “Jobs. Brahms”. 56 pages. The manuscript contains
quite a number of variations from the printed edition. (See
“Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien”, vol. n).
This famous sonata was much later recomposed (1865) as a
quintette for piano-forte, 2 violins, viola and Violoncello.

sale within the last 30 years proved to be copies or forgeries
(a few autograph letters were genuine), Gluck musical
manuscripts (not letters!) are the rares t.
