One of the nine books issued by the first
press of Johann Rubens.
Large copy. The first leaves wormholed affecting some letters
of text. Margins of seven leaves repaired and those of two others
slightly torn. Partly waterstained. Many old Greek and Latin ms.
notes.

Preunlein), 1488. Folio. Gothic type. 168 unn. leaves. 36 lines.
With fullpage woodcut frontispiece (in facsimile) and 41 large outline
woodcuts in the text. Capital spaces left. New blind stamped morocco,
with gilt Ornaments on both covers and the back, imitating the style
of Contemporary bindings. $ 2500.—

Extremely rare im print from the first press
of Brünn (Czechoslovakia), probably the second book printed at
Brünn.
The woodcuts, which are uncolouredin this copy, represent
portraits of Hungarian princes and warriors, all within a frame formed
by three lines.
This original edition is much rarer than
the reprint of the s a m e year by Ratdolt at Augs-
burg.
The frontispiece, missing as usual (also the Brit. Museum copy
lacks the frontispiece), is supplied by a very good facsimile on old paper.
Eight leaves skillfully repaired, two leaves slightly wormholed, affecting
some letters. Some leaves waterstained in margins, otherw iselarge
and clean copy.
